SPAR International was founded in 1932 and has grown into one of the largest grocery chains in the world. SPAR Malta opened its first outlet in Marsaxlokk in 2018 and has since expanded across the INTERSPAR, EUROSPAR, SPAR, SPAR Express and SPAR Gourmet formats, working towards twelve more stores by the end of 2027.

Founded in 1975, Valhmor is a leading importer of fresh and frozen food, specialising in meat, fish, dairy, fruit and vegetables for the hospitality industry. It owns and operates one of the largest distribution centres on the island, with temperature-controlled capacity beyond 4,000 pallets at temperatures from 5°C to -20°C. Its own fleet of refrigerated trucks and vans services the industry directly.
